Giving a pitch

  • Updated

In various assignments on All You Can Learn, you may be asked to give a pitch. But what is a pitch exactly? In a pitch, you sell an idea. You want to convince the listeners of the idea in a short amount of time. In this article, we will give you some tips for making a vlog. Read the steps below.

1.Prepare your pitch

No matter what your pitch is about, it’s helpful to prepare it well first. Think about who your audience is and tailor your story to them. What message do you want to convey? First, write down in points what you want to tell and then expand on it. Make sure you have a captivating start: this will immediately grab the listener’s attention. Also, end strongly so that your story sticks.

2. Practice

Practice your pitch a few times before you actually give it. In a pitch, it’s also essential that you deliver the story convincingly. Record yourself and listen to it a few times, or practice with friends.

3. Present!

Give your pitch to the audience. Pay attention to your posture and voice. Stand up straight and speak clearly: not too softly or loudly, and not too quickly. Use your hands while talking. You may also be asked to make a video pitch. In that case, make sure you’re clearly visible. The length of a pitch may vary, but it’s often no longer than 3 minutes.
